Welcome to Rosemary Works

At Rosemary Works, we believe childhood is a time of wonder, discovery, and endless possibilities. More than just a nursery, we are a home away from home—where every child feels nurtured, valued, and inspired to explore the world around them.

From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll find a warm and inclusive environment where strong relationships and a love of learning flourish. Through imaginative play, thoughtful guidance, and meaningful experiences, we empower children to grow in confidence and curiosity, preparing them for the exciting journey ahead.

At our nursery, every child’s unique journey is celebrated, every family is welcomed with open arms, and strong foundations for life are built with care and dedication. Whether it’s the laughter shared with friends, the joy of discovery, or the support of a loving caregiver, each moment is designed to inspire and uplift.

Our Mission

At Rosemary Works, we are dedicated to creating a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to explore. Through secure relationships and a strong sense of belonging, we empower children to develop confidence and reach their full potential.

We believe that play is the foundation of learning, fostering curiosity, creativity, and self-expression. By embracing each child’s unique journey, we provide opportunities that encourage exploration, discovery, and personal growth.

Our commitment to inclusivity ensures that every child, family, and staff member is respected and supported, celebrating diversity and individuality. Through meaningful connections and thoughtful guidance, we instil core values of kindness, resilience, and respect—preparing children for life beyond nursery with the skills to engage, empathize, and thrive in their communities.

Our Ethos

At our nursery, we create a happy, warm, and caring environment where every child and their family feel welcomed, valued, and supported. We believe that secure relationships, built through the special bond with a key carer, provide the foundation for children’s confidence, reassurance, and overall development. These strong connections allow children to feel safe, explore their world, and reach their full potential—preparing them for school, family life, and engagement within the wider community.

Play is at the heart of learning, and we embrace children’s natural curiosity by providing opportunities that reflect their personal interests. Through exploration, fun, and challenge, we nurture a love of learning in a safe space where every child is encouraged to achieve their best, starting from their own unique journey. Creativity and self-expression are fundamental to our approach, ensuring all children have the freedom to express themselves confidently.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where every child, family, and staff member is respected and supported, regardless of background, abilities, or circumstances. By celebrating diversity and embracing individuality, we create a space where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive.

Personal development is key in preparing children for life beyond nursery. We equip them with the skills to understand and manage their emotions while instilling values such as respect, honesty, kindness, and resilience. We foster a culture of care and empathy, where children learn to respect themselves and others, recognising the importance of being sensitive to the needs and feelings of those around them.

Through meaningful experiences and relationships, we lay the foundations for confident, capable, and compassionate young learners—ready to embrace the world with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Our Nursery

Rosemary Works Early Years Centre was opened in 1997 to provide high quality childcare to the local community and families working in the surrounding areas. We are recognised by Ofsted as a ‘Good’ Nursery.

The two owners, Kate Jennings and Magalie Billaud both work on site and Magalie has been running the nursery since 1998. We employ well qualified staff, some of whom have been here since the nursery first opened more than 15 years ago. As a result, the staff have grown to care for each other like a family and therefore the care given to the children is consistent and there is a welcoming, happy, calm, family feel throughout the whole setting.

Our nursery is located in a warehouse along the Regent’s Canal and has been designed and converted from scratch, incorporating many unique and individual features. Our building is bright and airy with big windows overlooking the water where we can watch the wildlife and water life of the Regent’s Canal.  We have a balcony over-looking the canal where we can play, feed the ducks and plant flowers and herbs. We also have a sand kitchen on the balcony where the children can enjoy making sand pies and engage in messy play.  The toddlers enjoy a dual purpose soft play and sensory room. The nursery is conveniently located close to two parks which have excellent facilities including a lovely children’s playground and sensory water features.

We are based in a great location enroute to the city, Hoxton and Old Street with buses number 76, 21, 141 passing outside the nursery and number 271 within close walking distance, going straight up to Highbury and Islington. There are cycling and walking paths along the canal from Victoria Park or London Fields to Angel Islington, which are used by many parents and children who attend the nursery. Old Street tube is 5 minutes by bus or a 15 minute walk.

We have a wonderful independent primary school offering excellent primary education located close by, with fun-filled playgrounds and gardens, including a pond and a mud kitchen, which facilitates children from 4 to 11 years.

The nursery offers outstanding care and education for all children between the ages of 3 months and 4 years.   We provide a safe and loving environment where children’s individuality is valued and recognised. We believe in equal opportunities for all where the children learn to grow and thrive in a non-discriminatory environment. We learn to respect one another, be friends with one another and enjoy each other’s company.  All of the children’s contributions are valued and the children are treated as important individuals from the moment they join the nursery.

We open 5 days per week, 49 weeks a year and offer:
