Our Mission
At our nursery, we are dedicated to creating a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to explore. Through secure relationships and a strong sense of belonging, we empower children to develop confidence and reach their full potential.
We believe that play is the foundation of learning, fostering curiosity, creativity, and self-expression. By embracing each child’s unique journey, we provide opportunities that encourage exploration, discovery, and personal growth.
Our commitment to inclusivity ensures that every child, family, and staff member is respected and supported, celebrating diversity and individuality. Through meaningful connections and thoughtful guidance, we instil core values of kindness, resilience, and respect – preparing children for life beyond nursery with the skills to engage, empathize, and thrive in their communities.
Our Ethos
At our nursery, we create a happy, warm, and caring environment where every child and their family feel welcomed, valued, and supported. We believe that secure relationships, built through the special bond with a key carer, provide the foundation for children’s confidence, reassurance, and overall development. These strong connections allow children to feel safe, explore their world, and reach their full potential—preparing them for school, family life, and engagement within the wider community.
Play is at the heart of learning, and we embrace children’s natural curiosity by providing opportunities that reflect their personal interests. Through exploration, fun, and challenge, we nurture a love of learning in a safe space where every child is encouraged to achieve their best, starting from their own unique journey. Creativity and self-expression are fundamental to our approach, ensuring all children have the freedom to express themselves confidently.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where every child, family, and staff member is respected and supported, regardless of background, abilities, or circumstances. By celebrating diversity and embracing individuality, we create a space where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive.
Personal development is key in preparing children for life beyond nursery. We equip them with the skills to understand and manage their emotions while instilling values such as respect, honesty, kindness, and resilience. We foster a culture of care and empathy, where children learn to respect themselves and others, recognising the importance of being sensitive to the needs and feelings of those around them.
Through meaningful experiences and relationships, we lay the foundations for confident, capable, and compassionate young learners—ready to embrace the world with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Our Nursery
Rosemary Works East was opened in 2017 to provide high quality childcare to the local community and families working in the surrounding areas. The two owners, Kate Jennings and Magalie Billaud set up Rosemary Works Hoxton in 1997. In 2017, Magalie devoted her time to setting up Rosemary Works East in Clapton; she now oversees both sites.
When we set up Rosemary Works East, we took five key members of staff from Hoxton to work at East so that the ethos would be carried through to the new setting. The majority of our staff team are fully qualified and experienced. There is a welcoming, happy, calm family feel throughout the whole setting; the staff care for each other like a family and the care given to the children is loving and consistent.
Our nursery is located in one of the oldest remaining tram depots in London and has been designed and converted from scratch, incorporating many unique and individual features. The nursery has open-plan feel where children can be seen from all angles, through low partitions and glass divides. It has a beautiful, indoor, wooden playground for the older children, made by ‘Made From Scratch’ with a treehouse, giant walk-in sandpit and king of the castle climbing post. The babies benefit from their own quiet black-out cot room, and the toddlers enjoy a multi-purpose sensory room. Millfields Park is on the door step and has excellent facilities including a lovely children’s playground, canal and forest school sites.
We are based in a great location in the heart of Clapton, close to the Lea Bridge roundabout. Clapton Train Station is a 5-minute walk away with trains direct to Liverpool Street Station. Buses number 106, 253, 254, 393 & 425 stop directly outside the tram deport and the 38 & 56 are a short walk away, on the corner of the Lea Bridge roundabout.
Our nursery offers outstanding care and education for all children between the ages of 3 months and 4 years. We provide a safe and loving environment where children’s individuality is valued and recognised. We believe in equal opportunities for all where the children learn to grow and thrive in a non-discriminatory environment. We learn to respect one another, be friends with one another and enjoy each other’s company. All of the children’s contributions are valued and the children are treated as important individuals from the moment they join the nursery.
We open 5 days per week, 49 weeks a year and offer:
- A long day: 8.00- 18.00
- A short day: 10.00-16-00
- The nursery is closed for 1 week at Easter and 2 weeks at Christmas, 3 staff training days a year and all public bank holidays.
